Back on the discussion.....well ideally no parent would like that. No one would willingly go out of the way to marry their son/daughter to a person from another caste. It's just how the way it is. Personally I don't really like Gujarati girls that much, they talk too much so don't know what will happen in 10 years time.

Parents shouldnt be a barrier to this and the person getting married should have full right to chose with no restriction.
Its good cause we get to know the other persons way of living,style,culture etc and that increases broad mindedness.

Too simplistic view you have of life. Most sons are good for nothing bastards who just leave their parents to rot in old age. Daughters get married off and are too busy making their husbands, in laws and their own life miserable.

I'd rather live on my own then go through the stupid things in life that I see all old people around me go through.

Atleast you have a ray of hope when you have a son or daughter.
Not all are the same.
Maybe if you bond with him well and keep him in limits he can be of good help n the initial stages atleast
