Chelsea's transfer embargo was lifted today after they were cleared of any wrongdoing over the transfer of Gael Kakuta.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport found in Chelsea's favour after FIFA had banned them from signing any new players until 2011 as punishment for allegedly inducing Kakuta to break his contract with Lens.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said: "We are pleased to have come to an amicable resolution of the matter and that it has been ratified by CAS and recognised by FIFA."

Well Chelsea were banned from signing any players for two transfer windows(Jan 2010 and June-August 2010) for inciting Kakuta to break his contract at Lens to join Chelsea. Lens had filed a complained with Fifa which had led to this ban being imposed upon Chelsea.

Chelsea appealed in a court against the ban in December and the ban was suspended and they were allowed to buy players in January.

Their appeal was successful as Lens accepted 1m pounds+ in compensation for Kakuta and thus the ban was lifted.
